Monavate Integrates Sumsub for Seamless, Identity Verification Across Global Payments Infrastructure

Embedding KYC, document verification, and monitoring directly into Monavate’s onboarding flow, enabling programme managers to meet regulatory requirements without additional infrastructure.

London, April 16 – Sumsub , a global verification and anti-fraud leader trusted by 4,000 businesses, has partnered with Monavate, a regulated global payments infrastructure provider with principal memberships across Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Monavate has fully integrated Sumsub’s verification capabilities to power its MonavateOne platform.

The integration is live and enables Monavate’s programme managers to conduct comprehensive KYC checks on their end customers directly through the Monavate platform. By embedding Sumsub’s verification engine natively within its API-driven onboarding flow, Monavate removes the need for programme managers to source, procure, and maintain separate identity verification infrastructure, reducing complexity while raising the standard of compliance across every programme it supports.

Why This Matters

As a regulated EMI (Electronic Money Institution), Monavate is required to own and oversee the KYC and ongoing monitoring processes for all customers onboarded through its programmes. This regulatory obligation underpins the partnership with Sumsub: it ensures that identity verification is not delegated loosely to programme managers, but is instead centrally governed, auditable, and compliant with the standards expected by regulators across every jurisdiction Monavate operates in.

For programme managers, the benefit is equally clear. The payments sector faces a growing and increasingly complex fraud threat: as onboarding controls strengthen, bad actors are shifting focus to payment credentials and financial rails. Sumsub's 2025-2026 Identity Fraud Report revealed an 180% YoY increase in ‘sophisticated’ fraud attempts - multi-technique attacks combining synthetic identities, social engineering, and device manipulation that are far harder to detect and cause significantly greater damage when they succeed.

Rather than needing to build or integrate their own verification infrastructure to keep pace, programme managers gain access to a mature, globally capable verification flow on the Monavate platform. This means faster go-to-market, lower operational overhead, and confidence that their onboarding process meets the highest regulatory standards from day one.

What the Integration Delivers

The Sumsub integration is fully embedded within Monavate’s API-driven customer onboarding process, without third-party intermediaries. Programme managers interact with a single, coherent onboarding flow, with Sumsub’s capabilities operating natively behind the scenes.

Capabilities now available through the integration include:

  • Global document validation supporting identity documents from over 220 countries and territories
  • Biometric liveness checks and video matching to prevent impersonation and fraud
  • Deduplication to identify repeat applicants across programmes
  • European ETSI-compliant electronic signature checks
  • US Social Security Number (SSN) verification
  • PEPs and Sanctions screening with ongoing monitoring
  • Adverse media checking as part of continuous due diligence

Markets and Future Expansion

The integration is currently live across the UK and European Economic Area. With Sumsub’s global coverage spanning over 220 countries and territories and more than 14,000 document types, the partnership is designed to scale alongside Monavate’s international licensing expansion. Both companies have confirmed plans to expand the scope of the partnership.

Spokesperson Quotes

“As a regulated issuer, we have an obligation to ensure that every customer onboarded through our programmes is verified to the highest standard. Our integration with Sumsub delivers exactly that, not as an afterthought, but as a native part of how our platform operates. For our programme managers, this removes a significant layer of complexity. They get access to world-class identity verification infrastructure without needing to build or manage it independently. It is one of the ways we ensure that compliance is a competitive advantage for the businesses we support, not a bottleneck.”

David Nyamatore, General Counsel, Monavate

"Payments infrastructure providers are under increasing pressure to ensure compliance is built in, not bolted on. Monavate's approach - embedding verification as a native part of its platform rather than an optional layer - sets the industry standard for what regulated infrastructure should look like. Programme managers operating in complex, multi-jurisdiction environments need to know compliance is handled from the moment they  go live. That’s what this partnership delivers. We look forward to expanding the scope of what we can deliver together as Monavate expands into new markets."

Tom Taraniuk, Head of Partnerships, EU/UK, Sumsub
