Typeface

Poppins, and nothing else.

Poppins is free and open source under the SIL Open Font License, so no paid licence or accreditation is needed. Download it from Google Fonts. In the rare case you cannot use it, fall back to Helvetica, then Arial.

Poppins.

A workhorse sans-serif. Clear letterforms and ample spacing, even at small sizes.

The four weights we use

Light 300

Regular 400

Medium 500

Bold 700

The six type commandments

01

Stay left-aligned, rag right

Most people read left to right, so align type that way. We are a little off-centre as a brand anyway.

02

Skip weights and double size

Contrast is the game. When in doubt, skip a weight when pairing two, and double the size between two text elements.

03

Align x-heights or baselines

When text sits next to text, line up the baselines or the x-heights so each line aligns visually.

04

Watch the rag

Keep an eye on the ragged right edge. If it makes a recognisable shape, tweak the language or resize the container. Avoid single-word orphans.

05

Give things space, if needed

Negative space matters. If elements belong together, move them closer. Group wisely and do not cram.

06

Keep line length reasonable

Between 45 and 70 characters, depending on size. Long lines lose the reader, short ones get ignored.

Partner use

Using our logo with yours.

Co-branding is fine when it has been agreed. Keep both marks clean and give them room.

Side by side

Place the two logos side by side, separated by a thin vertical rule.

Match optical height

Match what the eye reads as equal height, not the pixel height of the files.

Keep clear space

Full clear space around each logo, and around the pair as a unit.

Never merge or nest

Do not lock the marks together, overlap them, or build one into the other.

Right entity, right work

Use Monavate OnChain. only for digital asset programmes.

Agreed words only

Describe the partnership in the words that were agreed, nothing more.

Card programmes are different: issuer statements and scheme marks follow your programme agreement, not this page.

Please don't

Six ways to get it wrong.

01

Stretch, squash, skew or distort the logo in any way.

02

Recolour it, use an off-brand colour, or reduce its opacity.

03

Add drop shadows, outlines or any other graphic effect.

04

Place it on a busy photograph or anything low-contrast.

05

Crowd it, or let anything break the clear space around it.

06

Retype the name in another font, or drop the full stop.

Writing our name

The full stop is part of it.

One full stop is enough to end a sentence that finishes with the name. Naming a client, partner or scheme alongside our logo needs sign-off first.

  • Monavate OnChain.

Never
