For the Builders

A note from our CMO

I spend a lot of my week talking to builders. Founders and leadership teams in fintech, financial services technology, medtech, agritech, and one or two sectors I will admit to Googling on the way into the call. Some are startups shipping their first product. Others have been building exceptional things for longer than some of our team have been alive.

Different sectors, different stages, one thing in common: not one of them got into this to become a payments expert.

Now, the honest bit, and these are my views, not Monavate’s. We are not the flashy app. We are not the front end brand. And as the marketing guy, that occasionally drives me up the wall. I would love us to get more credit for the work this team does enabling these brilliant businesses. That is FOMO, plain and simple, and I own it.

But then I remember how sport actually works.

Nobody buys a replica shirt with the physio’s name on the back. The striker gets the headlines, the chants and the boot deal. And behind that striker is a small army: physios, analysts, nutritionists, the kit manager, a groundskeeper with strong opinions about grass. Take the backroom staff away and the first team stops performing within a month. Anyone who follows sport has watched it happen.

That is us. Our clients are the first team. They score the goals, lift the trophies and sell the shirts, exactly as it should be, because it is their name their customers came for. We are the backroom staff. Issuing, moving and settling money quietly, match after match, so the people out front can play at full speed without ever having to think about what makes that possible.

And here is the thing about the best support staff. They do not resent the spotlight. They built their careers on the players who stand in it.

So this is a note to the builders. Keep going. The work is hard, mostly invisible, occasionally thankless, and it is also the best game there is.

And if you are building something that needs payments or money flows made smarter and easier, without becoming a payments expert yourself, that is exactly what we are for. We will be on the bench with the water bottles and the tactics board, ready when you are.

Monavate. For the builders.
